PS UNDERLINES THE NEED TO EMBRANCE TECHNOLOGY
State Department for Petroleum (SDP) Principal Secretary Mr. Mohamed Liban, CBS has underscored the need for embracing emerging technologies to effectively adapt and tackle challenges in the oil and gas industry.
The PS has said that adapting new technologies will ensure compliance with global trends which are essential for enhancing service delivery and staying competitive in the sector.
The PS spoke in Nairobi during the closure training on Health, Safety, Environmental Fundamentals and Digital Tools for technical staff in the State Department for Petroleum at Empower Africa Concept International Limited training Centre.
He further explained that the training is indispensable to safeguarding not only the wellbeing of the technical staff but also the broader network of stakeholders directly or indirectly impacted by oil and gas activities.
“It also serves as a vital platform for engaging with resourceful trainers, exploring best practices and participating in collaborative problem solving focused on safety and health,” He added.
Highlighting the significance of Health, Safety, and Environmental management, the PS commended the trainers for equipping professionals with the skills needed to mitigate risks, enhance workplace safety, and promote sustainable practices across the sector.
He also lauded the program’s emphasis on collaborative problem-solving and practical learning. "This training has strengthened the capacity of professionals to foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the oil & gas sector," he stated.
In his closing remarks, PS Liban expressed gratitude to the trainers and facilitators for their dedication and encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained. "Your commitment to safety and sustainability will play a significant role in advancing the nation’s energy goals," he said.
Speaking at the same event, Commissioner Petroleum Joseph C. Otieno, appreciated the PS for the support and leadership accorded to the technical officers and urged them to apply the knowledge gained by acting as champions of safety and sustainability within their respective roles.
